La Réserve Firenze opened on 16 October with six private apartments in Palazzo Segni, a 15th-century palazzo on Via Santo Spirito in Florence's Oltrarno. Restored frescoes, coffered ceilings and a kitchen in every apartment make this a spacious base for a stay in the city, with breakfast delivered and daily housekeeping. The team behind La Réserve Paris runs the residences. Rates at opening started at about €1,890 a night for two, including breakfast.

Six private apartments in Palazzo Segni

La Réserve Firenze is part of Michel Reybier's collection of hotels and private residences. Each of its six apartments has one to three bedrooms, space for two to six guests and roughly 170 to 210 square metres. Every apartment has its own fully equipped kitchen, and the three-bedroom duplex adds a 55-square-metre private terrace.

An apartment gives you room to cook, relax and spend time together, with staff support when needed. There is no restaurant, bar or spa on site, so it suits guests who prefer privacy to the shared spaces of a full-service hotel.

A palazzo brought back to life

The building is Palazzo Segni, a Renaissance palazzo that has passed through some of Florence's most prominent families. Olivia and Grégory Marciano, who have lived in the city since 2019, bought it in 2022 and spent the four years that followed restoring it with the French design studio Gilles & Boissier.

The restoration retained the historic interiors. Frescoes were restored by hand by Florentine craftsmen, the coffered ceilings and carved woodwork were brought back, and the floors are traditional terracotta and travertine from Siena. Works from the owners' own art collection sit alongside all of it, so the apartments read as a lived-in home rather than a museum piece. The mix of historic details and contemporary pieces gives each apartment its own character.

Breakfast, housekeeping and private services

Breakfast comes to your door each morning. A dedicated housekeeper keeps the apartment in order daily, and behind them sit a house manager and a concierge who answer around the clock. For dinner, in-apartment dining comes from Trattoria Camillo, a long-established Florentine restaurant, or the team can bring in a private chef if you are hosting.

Ask and the rest gets arranged: a massage in your living room, private cultural visits, wine tastings, cooking or mixology workshops, even tennis among the olive trees on the owners' estate outside the city. Between appointments, the shaded patio with its stone fountain is the place to let an afternoon go.

Private services can be arranged through the team; check availability and any additional charges when booking.

Shared spaces and the terrace

Six private apartments are supported by a set of rooms held in common: a lounge, a library devoted to Italy, art and design, a games room with a billiard table, a small gym and a shaded patio. These spaces are shared by guests of the six apartments.

The rooftop terrace offers a place to sit outside above the city. It looks out over the dome of Santo Spirito and the Pitti Palace, and it is a fair place to drink a Negroni, a drink Florence claims as its own invention.

The Oltrarno on the doorstep

Via Santo Spirito runs through the Oltrarno, the left-bank quarter where the great Florentine families kept their palazzos and where artisans still work in open studios. The Ponte Vecchio is about 300 metres away, and the Palazzo Pitti and Via Tornabuoni are both a short walk.

The address gives you a working neighbourhood rather than a postcard: galleries, restaurant terraces, artisan workshops and small shops, with the big sights across the river when you want them. It suits travellers who want to explore the neighbourhood as well as the main sights.

Space for couples, families and longer stays

This is a strong choice for couples who want space, for families who would rather have a kitchen and a living room than two adjoining rooms, and for two couples travelling together who can take an apartment each. It also makes sense for longer stays, which is what the format is built for.

There is a two-night minimum stay. Rates started at about €1,890 a night for two with breakfast included at opening; larger apartments and the duplex cost more.
