The idea

Why this works

A short Adriatic week for people who would rather see two cities properly than six in passing. Split first, where a Roman emperor's palace still functions as the old town, with a private boat out to Hvar for the day. Then south to Dubrovnik, stopping at Ston to eat oysters straight off an oysterman's boat, and three nights inside the walls with a guide who can get you onto the ramparts early.

What sets it apart

  • Diocletian's Palace and an olive oil tasting in the old town
  • A private full day sail to Hvar and back
  • Oysters at Ston, taken from the water in front of you
  • The Dubrovnik walls, the Rector's Palace and a silversmith's workshop
  • Konavle Valley wine tasting and a five hundred year old silk workshop

The plan

Day by day

Open any day to see where you are, where you sleep and what the day holds. The map follows along, and every point on it opens the day that belongs to it.

Settle into a hotel in the heart of the old town and meet the person who will look after you for the week.

The green market first, and soparnik from a stall, then the third century palace the old town was built inside. St Domnius Cathedral, the Meštrović Gallery, the sixteenth century synagogue, and an olive oil tasting to finish. The rest of the day is yours.

Cornaro Hotel

Breakfast

A full day private cruise across to Hvar. Time ashore in Hvar Town, the fortress above it, lunch on your own terms, then a slow sail back along the Adriatic.

Cornaro Hotel

Breakfast

Down the coast towards Dubrovnik, stopping at Ston for its medieval walls and salt pans. An oysterman takes you out on his boat and opens them in front of you. Into Dubrovnik in the afternoon.

The Franciscan Monastery, the Rector's Palace and the city walls with their view down onto the terracotta roofs, with tastings along the way and a stop at a workshop still making Dubrovnik silverwork by hand.

Out to the Konavle Valley for a tasting and lunch at a family winery, then a silk weaving workshop where the embroidery technique has been passed down for five centuries.

Private transfer to the airport for your flight home.
