Met at Porto airport and driven east along the river, roughly an hour and a half. Check in, a wellness screening in the afternoon, then dinner on the terrace while the light goes off the far bank.

The idea
A nineteenth century wine estate above the Douro, restored so carefully that the terraces still run to the water. The wellness side is serious without being solemn: a sleep programme with a wearable and a screen, an alchemy bar where you blend your own oils, a spa built into the old cellars. The rest is Portugal at its most unhurried, which is the actual reason to come for four nights rather than two.
What sets it apart
The plan
Open any day to see where you are, where you sleep and what the day holds. The map follows along, and every point on it opens the day that belongs to it.
Met at Porto airport and driven east along the river, roughly an hour and a half. Check in, a wellness screening in the afternoon, then dinner on the terrace while the light goes off the far bank.
Dinner
The sleep tracker results are read back to you in the morning and the day is built from there. A long massage in the cellar spa, an hour in the water circuit, and the afternoon left open.
Breakfast, lunch
A walk through the terraces before it warms up, then a private tasting with the wine director covering the quintas either side of the estate. Afternoon yoga if you want it, the pool if you do not.
Breakfast, lunch
Pick with the gardener, cook with the chef, and blend your own oils at the alchemy bar in the afternoon. Dinner is whatever came out of the garden that morning.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner
Breakfast slowly, one more hour by the pool, and a private transfer back to Porto for the flight, or two extra nights in the city if you would rather not rush it.
Breakfast
Where you would stay
Lamego, Douro
A restored nineteenth century manor above the river, with a cellar spa and an organic garden
