Bali has been the most-searched Southeast Asian honeymoon destination for a decade, but the island has changed more in the last three years than in the previous fifteen. Canggu is now a small city, Seminyak's beach has been eaten by erosion, and Ubud has quietly become the most sophisticated resort region in Indonesia. The 2026 Bali honeymoon isn't a single-hotel beach trip - it is a two-island, two-region journey that pairs a jungle stay in Ubud with a beach or private-island finale. Below are the twelve resorts our advisors book most, and how we sequence them.
Ubud - the jungle-and-culture week
Ubud is the Bali most first-time honeymooners underestimate. The rice terraces of Tegalalang, the Ayung River gorge, the temples of Tirta Empul and Ulun Danu Bratan, the crafts villages of Mas and Celuk - it is the most culturally rich four days you can spend in Southeast Asia, and the hotels here are among the best in the country.
Amandari (thirty pavilion suites overlooking the Ayung gorge, the original Aman) remains our default recommendation. Como Uma Ubud is the wellness-focused alternative. Four Seasons Sayan is the design showpiece - the lily-pond entry, the river-side pool, the Wanakasa treehouses.
The southern beaches - Jimbaran, Uluwatu and Nusa Dua
For the beach half of the honeymoon, Bali's southern peninsula has replaced Seminyak entirely. Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay has just completed its refresh and remains the classic beach-front choice. Bulgari Resort Bali on the Uluwatu cliffs is the ultra-design option (59 villas, private beach reached by inclinator, the best hotel arrival ceremony in Indonesia).
Raffles Bali in Jimbaran and The Apurva Kempinski in Nusa Dua are the newer contenders, both with private beaches and full villa formats. For quieter, more residential stays, The Edge and Alila Villas Uluwatu still deliver.
Nihi Sumba - the reason to fly beyond Bali
Nihi Sumba is technically not in Bali. It is a 55-minute flight east on the island of Sumba - a wilder, less-developed cousin with one of the best hotels in Asia. Thirty-eight private villas along a two-kilometre surf beach, with horseback rides on the sand at dawn, a spa treatment programme that requires an hour's trek to reach (the Spa Safari), and a service ethos that has kept it as one of the World's Best Hotels for a decade running.
Best sequenced as the finale of a two-island honeymoon: four nights in Ubud, three nights on Bali's south coast, five nights at Nihi Sumba. It is the trip we book most for milestone-birthday honeymooners.
When to go and how to sequence
Bali's dry season runs May through October. July and August are peak (rates and crowds); May, June and September are the sweet spots. The wet season isn't washout-bad - it's afternoon showers with mostly clear mornings - and rates drop by 30 percent.
Fly Denpasar, spend four nights in Ubud, transfer 90 minutes south to Jimbaran or Uluwatu for three nights, fly to Sumba (or stay in the south) for the finale. Ten to twelve nights total. Private drivers throughout - Balinese driving is not a honeymoon activity.
