Atlantis The Royal is a completely different proposition - a 795-room resort city on the tip of the Palm Jumeirah with restaurants by Heston Blumenthal, Nobu, José Andrés and Ariana Grande, the largest hotel pool complex in the Middle East and rooms priced from AED 3,500 to AED 350,000 (the Royal Mansion).

One&Only The Palm and Royal Mirage - the boutique alternatives
One&Only Royal Mirage on Jumeirah Beach is the original Dubai luxury property, and after a 2022 refresh it remains the most residential-feeling hotel in the city. Arabic-Andalusian architecture, three connected properties (Arabian Court, Palace, Residence & Spa), a full private beach and the best breakfast programme in Dubai.
One&Only The Palm is the smaller sister - 90 rooms and villas on the west crescent of the Palm, with the best hotel pool in the city and a genuinely intimate scale that neither Atlantis nor Waldorf can match.
Four Seasons Jumeirah and Jumeirah Al Naseem - the mid-city options
Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach is our default corporate-plus-leisure recommendation - the best-located luxury beach hotel in Dubai (walking distance to DIFC, City Walk and the Kite Beach dining district), full Four Seasons service, and the best rooftop bar in the city (Mercury Lounge).
Jumeirah Al Naseem, on the Madinat Jumeirah campus with the Burj Al Arab in the foreground, is the choice for travellers who want the abra-boats-and-souks Madinat experience with a contemporary hotel interior.
How to sequence a Dubai stay
Dubai works best as a two- to four-night stopover rather than a week-long resort trip. Our default: two nights at a beach hotel (Bulgari, One&Only, Four Seasons) followed by a desert night at Al Maha or Bab Al Shams for a completely different Emirati experience.
