A new hotel is only interesting if it changes where we would send somebody. These five openings do. They bring a serious city hotel to a Roman landmark, a new Red Sea resort to a protected coastline, an international luxury address to Nagoya, a quieter beach option to Rhodes and a nature-led hotel to central Austin. All five are open as of September 2026, which means we can judge the real proposition rather than a rendering.
Corinthia Rome, Italy
Corinthia has opened its first Italian hotel in the former headquarters of the Bank of Italy on Piazza del Parlamento. The early twentieth-century palazzo now holds 60 rooms, including 21 suites and penthouses. It is close to the Pantheon and Spanish Steps without sitting directly in the busiest tourist flow.
Chef Carlo Cracco makes his Rome debut at Viride, while the spa sits below the historic building. This is the opening for travellers who want a grand Roman address but prefer a smaller room count than the city’s established palace hotels.

Six Senses AMAALA, Saudi Arabia
Six Senses AMAALA opened in July on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast. The resort has 100 suites and villas, with the landscape moving from desert cliffs to a mangrove-fringed lagoon and the sea. It is the second Six Senses in the country after Southern Dunes.
The setting is the reason to watch it. AMAALA is being developed around marine conservation and wellness, and the resort sits near the Corallium Marine Life Institute. This will suit guests who want a new coastal landscape and a wellness-led resort, while understanding that the wider destination is still developing.

Conrad Nagoya, Japan
Conrad Nagoya opened in September at the top of The Landmark Nagoya Sakae tower, with direct access to Sakae station. Its 170 rooms include 29 suites, and the restaurants and bars occupy high floors with wide city views.
Nagoya has often been treated as a transit point between Tokyo and Kyoto. A convincing international luxury hotel makes it easier to stop for the city’s food, design and access to central Japan. This is the most useful opening in the list for travellers who already know the standard Japan route and want to widen it.

AMOH, a Luxury Collection Resort, Rhodes
AMOH has opened on Kavos Beach near Lindos, becoming the Luxury Collection’s first hotel on Rhodes. The site includes two coves and an ancient limestone quarry, which informed the restrained stone architecture by Studio Lost.
The hotel has eight restaurants and bars, private-pool room options and the ELISPA wellness retreat. Its location is particularly useful for guests who want access to Lindos and St Paul’s Bay but would rather return to a quieter peninsula than stay in the centre of town.

1 Hotel Austin, Texas
1 Hotel Austin opened in September inside Waterline, the 74-storey tower beside Waller Creek and Lady Bird Lake. The 252-room hotel is the brand’s first in Texas and puts the lake, downtown and Rainey Street within easy reach.
The reason to book is not simply the tower. Natural materials, planted spaces and the Bamford Wellness Spa give the hotel a calmer identity than the usual central business hotel. It is the right base for a long weekend or a few days added to an event, especially when a lake view matters.

What to know before booking a new hotel
Opening months can bring excellent availability and a keen team, but they can also bring landscaping that needs time, changing restaurant hours and facilities that open in stages. We ask what is operating for the exact travel dates, not what appears on the final fact sheet.
For these five, the question is fit. Rome and Austin work as short city stays. Nagoya belongs inside a longer Japan plan. Rhodes is seasonal. AMAALA deserves enough time to make the Red Sea setting worthwhile.

Frequently asked questions
- Are all five hotels open now?
- Yes, according to their official sites and opening announcements checked in September 2026. Individual restaurants, spa areas or seasonal facilities can still operate on changing schedules.
- Is it wise to stay during a hotel’s first season?
- It can be, particularly when room choice and early rates are strong. Ask what is fully open, whether building work continues nearby and how experienced the operating team is before booking.
